In simple but essential terms, the ‘G’ here stands for generation. In other words, third-generation internet-service systems are currently in the process of being succeeded by fourth-generation services. To be a little more specific, these terms generally refer to the wireless internet services systems that are fast becoming the preferred option for users everywhere.

The most obvious difference between 4G services and 3G services is that the former are capable of doing everything at much greater speeds. Indeed, in the vast majority of cases, a user’s new 4G wireless-internet system could effectively replace their old cable or DSL modem-based internet access.

Given all of this, the newer fourth generation of wireless-internet service has effectively left the third-generation systems well behind. The 4G system enjoys a far greater range of internet availability, which will allow for a much greater amount of data transfer at far quicker speeds. This is mainly due to the fact that the 4G system only carries data.

In addition, 4G connections also have a far greater geographical range of operation. While 3G networks could reach distances of ten miles at best, 4G networks can achieve connections within a range of at least 30 miles and, provided the conditions are right, often a lot further than that.

Lastly, 4G networks also have the capability to eradicate the kinds of connection interruptions that many users previously experienced when carrying out transfers between different coverage areas. With 4G technology, users should enjoy a seamless connection even when they are travelling long distances.
